The Elkmont Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Midfield Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Elkmont will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Midfield is ranked 99th).
Elkmont lost a heartbreaker to West Limestone when they met back in November of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. Elkmont received a tough blow as they fell 55-37 to West Limestone. Elkmont has struggled against West Limestone recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Midfield beat Jackson-Olin 63-52 on Monday.
Armonie Franklin and Brandon Riddle were among the main playmakers for Midfield as the former scored 3 points along with 12 steals and 9 assists and the latter scored 11 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Franklin is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Dujuan McKinney was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Elkmont's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Midfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Elkmont was taken down by Midfield 71-25 in their previous matchup back in February. Thankfully for Elkmont, Shannon Jones (who scored 15 points along with 7 steals and 6 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
