Baseball Game Preview: Shorewood Stormrays vs. Lynnwood Royals

The Shorewood Stormrays will take on the Lynnwood Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shorewood will be strutting in after a victory while Lynnwood will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, Shorewood was able to grind out a solid win over Lake Stevens, taking the game 9-6.

Joey Facilla made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Facilla was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jameson Connolly, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Lorenzo Jaramillo was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Shorewood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Lynnwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Mountlake Terrace. The matchup marked the Royals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lynnwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Shorewood, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Shorewood came out on top in a nail-biter against Lynnwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will Shorewood repeat their success, or does Lynnwood has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
