Estero hasn't had much luck against Canterbury recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Estero is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
Estero will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Golden Gate on Friday. Estero blew past Golden Gate 11-3.
Landon Brown was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Evan Goeller was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kohler Scott was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Canterbury entered their tilt with Port Charlotte on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Pirates.
Anthony Meady looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Adams Mejia, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashby Piatt, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Estero pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Canterbury, their record now sits at 3-1.
Estero might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Canterbury in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can Estero avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
