Season Preview:Oak Hill Academy has been the most consistent high
school basketball program over the past two decades, finishing among the
top 10 teams in the nation in 20 of the last 21 seasons, according to
their official site.
A talented group of prospects will be led by
Cole Anthony, the top ranked guard in the Class of 2019, according to
247Sports.
The son of
the former NBA journeyman Greg Anthony will play alongside talented class
of 2020 guards Greer, Johnson and Thomas.
With a strong front court featuring highly coveted big men Kofi Cockburn, the Warriors are a serious contender for their second GEICO Nationals crown.
The elite program faces a challenging 43-game schedule that includes
showdowns with No. 1 Montverde Academy, No. 3 IMG Academy, and a trip to the City of
Palms Classic.
Head coach Steve
Smith enters his 34th season at the helm with more than 1,100 career wins and
an opportunity to inch closer to the all-time wins mark in high school
basketball held by Robert Hughes of
Dunbar (Fort Worth, Texas), who retired in 2005 with 1,333 career wins.
