Basketball Game Preview: Early County Bobcats vs. Terrell County Greenwave

Early County is 9-1 against Terrell County since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Early County Bobcats will challenge the Terrell County Greenwave at 6:00 p.m. Early County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, Early County didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Pelham, but they still walked away with a 53-49 victory.

Early County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ty'Jerrica Russell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Russell has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nakevia Brown, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Early County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Terrell County came up short against Westover on Saturday and fell 39-28. While losing is never fun, the Greenwave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Patriots are ranked 142nd).

Early County will have to keep a close watch on Jada Rushing and Britney Hill, a pair of players who had a big impact on Terrell County's prior game. Rushing posted nine points, while Hill put up nine points. Hill is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Early County's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Terrell County, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Early County beat Terrell County 36-28 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Early County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
