Fernando Gonzalez and Joey Carillo provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Corcoran. The connection went for 70 yards, the longest such play in East Sequoia this season.
Woodlake extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Strathmore, 31-28. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Tigers.
Nicholas Portillo and Paul Johnson gave the Panthers a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Portillo threw for 142 yards and three touchdowns, while Johnson ran for 140 yards. Aidan Viveros also contributed to the rushing game with 89 yards on the ground.
Gonzalez provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Granite Hills fell to Corcoran. He completed five passes for 100 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 65 yards. Gonzalez's favorite target this week was Carillo, who caught two passes for 75 yards.
On the ground, the Spartans' Cody Styles has rushed for 959 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Adam Cain. The Corcoran star has eight catches for 159 yards.
Strathmore's Styles needs only 41 yards against Sierra Pacific next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in East Sequoia this week will be when Rich Lane's team takes on Woodlake. The Panthers are currently in fourth, while Scott Hernandez's team is in first.
The Tigers moved up to 646 from 697 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Woodlake climbed the ranks as a result of a 31-28 win over Jeromy Blackwell's team.
