Hico waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Itasca Wampus Cats as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Mikaelynn Miles made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Abella Garza was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Madison Finney was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Hico always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Itasca only posted an OBP of .400.
Hico's win bumped their record up to 10-3-2. As for Itasca, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Coincidentally, Hico and Itasca will both be playing Frost the next time they take the field. The Wampus Cats will host the Polar Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
