The Wauconda Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Antioch Sequoits at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Wauconda is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Wauconda made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cary-Grove, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 12-3 victory on Saturday. The Bulldogs not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 24th.
Dominic Ciaburri spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, Ryan Fostiak and Luke Sickmeir did most of the damage at the plate: Fostiak went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Sickmeir went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Wauconda is 4-1 when Fostiak posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Blake Swanson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Wauconda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
While Antioch didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Hoffman Estates 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sequoits.
Ben Clausen looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hunter Feldkamp was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Mason Willis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Antioch's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Wauconda, their record now sits at 6-7.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wauconda hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Antioch struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wauconda took their victory against Antioch in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
