That result was just more of the same for these two, as Jackson Central Merry also won the last time the pair played back in November.
Despite the defeat, Haywood saw an underclassman step up: Camariya Woodland dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Woodland set a new season high mark in steals with five.
Jackson Central Merry now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Haywood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson Central Merry will square off against Millington Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Haywood, they will head out on the road to face off against Jackson South Side at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson South Side presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Haywood in Tennessee (Jackson South Side is ranked 84th, while Haywood is ranked 273rd).
