Clarksville has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels at TBD on Friday. Clarksville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 666 points over their last 12 matches.
Last Friday, Clarksville faced Iowa Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Clarksville blew past Iowa Valley, posting a 50-8 win at home. The result was nothing new for Clarksville, who have now won ten matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Clarksville's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Owen Backer, who rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and Makade Bloker, who rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Bloker was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Iowa Valley to a paltry 204 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Clarksville's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Rex Ross and Bodhi Ellerman who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Gladbrook-Reinbeck put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 36-12 margin over Central City. The win was familiar territory for Gladbrook-Reinbeck who now have three in a row.
Clarksville's win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 12-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Meskwaki Settlement and 1-7 GMG (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.3% over those games). As for Gladbrook-Reinbeck, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Clarksville came out on top in a nail-biter against Gladbrook-Reinbeck when the teams last played back in October, sneaking past 38-36. Does Clarksville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gladbrook-Reinbeck turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
