Baseball Recap: Dierks Has No Trouble Against Cutter-Morning Star

Dierks lost to Cutter-Morning Star back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Outlaws were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Eagles.

Treaton Alexander looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Dierks is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Maclane Smith was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Tristen Godwin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Dierks always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Dierks has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Cutter-Morning Star, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
