The Orem Tigers will be playing at home against the Dixie Flyers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Orem sitting on three straight victories and Dixie on five.
Even though Duncanville scored an imposing 81 points on Saturday, Orem still came out on top. Orem secured a 86-81 W over Duncanville. Given Orem's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 15th in Utah, while Duncanville is ranked 156th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Asher Young was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Young is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Chance Dastrup was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 17 assists.
Meanwhile, even though Crimson Cliffs scored an imposing 62 points on Saturday, Dixie still came out on top. Dixie enjoyed a cozy 77-62 win over Crimson Cliffs.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dixie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyle Lemke, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Lemke's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Roberts, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 assists.
Their wins bumped Orem to 3-1 and Duncanville to 4-5.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's match: Orem have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.2 threes per game. However, it's not like Dixie struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
