Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. Cloverdale came out on top against Middletown on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Eagles took their game against the Mustangs 10-6. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly four runs.
Camryn Bird was a major factor no matter where she played. Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Helena has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. However, it's not like Cloverdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Helena took their win against Cloverdale in their previous meeting on April 2nd by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
