Logansport and Kokomo are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Berries will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Wildkats at 5:00 p.m. Logansport will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Logansport's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Peru 11-0. The Berries might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.
Logansport let Gracie Risley and Adrienne Scott run wild. Risley went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Scott went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Lucy Gordon was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Logansport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peru only posted a batting average of .176.
Meanwhile, Kokomo came up short against Western on Monday and fell 5-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildkats in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
Kokomo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amirah Marciniak, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Kokomo's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Logansport, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
Kokomo's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Logansport has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Kokomo, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Logansport keep running through batters, or will the Wildkats buck the trend?
Logansport came out on top in a nail-biter against Kokomo when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Berries have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildkats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
