Deer Creek-Mackinaw and El Paso-Gridley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs will head out on the road to square off against the El Paso-Gridley Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deer Creek-Mackinaw is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.

Meanwhile, El Paso-Gridley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Lexington on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 59-53 win. Given El Paso-Gridley's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Lexington is ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw's victory bumped their record up to 8-19. As for El Paso-Gridley, their win bumped their record up to 21-5.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw was taken down by El Paso-Gridley 72-35 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Deer Creek-Mackinaw was down 49-21.
