Lewis had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it six. They came up short against the Mount Vernon Majors, falling 17-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Majors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-3 back in April.
Lewis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was K.J Price, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run. Isaiah Moore also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
As for Mount Vernon, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-4. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Mount Vernon's side, Talon Camacho made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Camacho was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played.
In other pitching news, Justin Kelly looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Sean Peterson was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Noah Toy was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Lewis didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-3 defeat against Annandale on the 6th. As for Mount Vernon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-5 victory against Edison on the 6th.
