Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Frye). They put the hurt on the Waterford Wildcats with a sharp 14-0 win on Friday. Considering the Cadets have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Taylor Hendershot made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hendershot was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Carmen Henniger and Faith Treadway did most of the damage at the plate: Henniger scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Treadway scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Henniger continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Maddie Hinton also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Fort Frye now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Waterford, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.
Looking ahead, Fort Frye will be playing at home against Frontier at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Waterford, they will head out on the road to take on Paden City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
