The Catalina Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 14th straight loss. They were dealt a 100-46 loss at the hands of Palo Verde. While losing is never fun, Catalina can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Titans are ranked 111th).
It was another big night for Rozzy Martin, who shot 4-for-8 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds for Palo Verde. It was the first time this season that Martin pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tra'celle Porter, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Catalina dropped their record down to 1-19 with that loss, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Palo Verde, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-6.
Catalina will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Palo Verde, they will play host again and welcome the Sabercats, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Tan Foothills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
