Itasca extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, bumping them up to 12-4. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Italy Gladiators. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wampus Cats have posted since May 2, 2025.
Brayden Daniel was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Itasca is undefeated when Daniel posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Mears, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
As for Italy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.
On Italy's side, Xavier DeLaHoys put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. DeLaHoys has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Tripp Slovak was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Brayden Enriquez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Itasca will welcome Frost at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Italy, they will take on Bosqueville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
