Softball Recap: Bishop Fenwick Triumphs

Bishop Fenwick's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Archbishop Alter Knights a 14-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their two-run performance the match before.

Mackenzie Gibbons made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Snelling Kinsey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Myles Carolyn, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Bishop Fenwick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bishop Fenwick's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Archbishop Alter, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Bishop Fenwick will challenge Archbishop McNicholas at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Archbishop Alter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oakwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
