A MaxPreps All-American was the lone high school player chosen for the USA Volleyball U21 team that will compete starting this week at the 2022 Women's U21 Pan American Cup in Mexico.
Outside hitter
Chloe Chicoine of
McCutcheon (Lafayette, Ind.) is a rising senior for the Mavericks, but will spend part of her summer competing for the USA alongside a handful of MaxPreps All-America standouts who graduated in 2022.
Elia Rubin, the MaxPreps National Player of the Year, also was chosen for the team. The
Marymount (Los Angeles) standout, who is headed to Stanford, dominated last year in leading the Sailors to a MaxPreps National Championship.
Along with Rubin and Chicoine, All-Americans Mckenna Wucherer and Alexis Stucky will compete in Mexico.
Chicoine, the high-flying Penn State commit, had a busy fall helping the U18 national team to a bronze medal finish in September in Mexico before returning to lead the Mavericks to the Indiana 4A title. She hammered 440 kills with 196 digs for the 30-6 Mavericks.
