The East Hardy Cougars are on the road again on Saturday and play against the St. Marys Blue Devils at 1:30 p.m. on November 11th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, East Hardy never let their opponents score. They claimed a resounding 39-0 win over Petersburg on the road. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for East Hardy's ten-point performance the game before.
Among those leading the charge was Price Strawderman, who rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Tyler Tarallo and his 86 yards on the ground were also a key factor in East Hardy's win.
Meanwhile, St. Marys entered their tilt with Ravenswood with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. St. Marys breezed by Ravenswood on the road to the tune of 46-6. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-0.
St. Marys' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashton Boron led the charge by rushing for 157 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Boron is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josiah Demoss, who rushed for 45 yards and four touchdowns.
East Hardy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for St. Marys, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: East Hardy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 173.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like St. Marys struggles in that department as they've been even better at 245 per game. It's looking like Saturday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
