Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Independence walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Godwin Eagles with a sharp 11-1 victory on Tuesday. Independence might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

The win (which was Independence's third in a row) raised their record to 14-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Godwin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-6.

Looking ahead, Independence will square off against Cox at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The last three games the Falcons have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Godwin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
