Bailee Shelton was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. Those 19 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Mercer, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Linlee Davidson, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
McNairy Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only posted a batting average of .000.
Meanwhile, Creek Wood was able to grind out a solid win over Lexington on Monday, taking the game 6-3.
Elizabeth Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kendal Bryant was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Lilly Killebrew was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Creek Wood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 28-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for McNairy Central, their win bumped their record up to 22-8.
