St. John has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Conneaut Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. John has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 182 points over their last three matchups.
Last Monday, St. John beat the Rockets 60-48.
St. John's success was spearheaded by the efforts of alyssa cevera, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds, and Mickey Zheng, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which cevera has scored at least a third of St. John's points. Another player making a difference was gracie disalvatore, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Conneaut suffered a rough 55-32 loss at the hands of the Blue Streaks on Saturday. Conneaut has not had much luck with the Blue Streaks recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Finley Evans put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Alexis Kiser was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
St. John pushed their record up to 8-9 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Conneaut, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: St. John have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Conneaut struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
St. John was taken down by the Spartans 63-36 in their previous meeting back in January. Can St. John avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
