You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Jefferson on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Chamberlain Storm out of the water with a 35-8 final score. Considering the Dragons have won seven contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jefferson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Steele, who threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Steele is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Chauncey Gunn was another key pass catcher, picking up 77 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Jefferson's run defense was locked in: Chamberlain could only muster 3.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Milton Harrell for the heroic effort on defense: he. Jefferson didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.
Jefferson's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up ten sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Camarr Eugene and Cohen Allen, who racked up six sacks between them. Eugene also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Another thorn in Chamberlain's side was Tyliq Cashaw, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles (3.0 for loss).
When it comes to explaining why Chamberlain lost, don't look at Anthony Ford. Despite the final result, he rushed for 101 yards and one score on only 14 carries.
Jefferson pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.3 points over those games. As for Chamberlain, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.
Jefferson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 41-6 win against Ridge Community on the 17th. As for Chamberlain, they have also already played their next matchup, a 38-0 victory against King on the 17th.
