The Routt Catholic Rockets will challenge the Seymour Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Routt Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Seymour's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Routt Catholic lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Quincy Notre Dame, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's matchup. The Rockets never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Saturday. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Eli Olson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Routt Catholic: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jace Lautemann, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Routt Catholic is 12-1 when Lautemann posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Talon Thompson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Routt Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quincy Notre Dame only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Seymour rose to the challenge on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Suns 2-1.
Like Routt Catholic, Seymour also got a great game from a two-way player: Blake Schwartz. On the mound, he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Schwartz was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.
Routt Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Seymour, their win bumped their record up to 12-14.
Everything went Routt Catholic's way against Seymour in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Routt Catholic made off with a 15-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
