If the Chiles Timberwolves were feeling good off their 53-33 takedown of the Maclay Marauders last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Chiles took a 61-47 bruising from Lincoln on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Chiles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while Lincoln is ranked 117th).
Chiles' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylon Burgess, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Isaiah Bundrage was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Chiles' defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Lincoln, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chiles will square off against North Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln, they will head out on the road to challenge Godby at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Godby is on a three-game streak of home wins, Lincoln a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
