The Mesa Jackrabbits waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 67-55 victory over Dobson. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Anthony Seumanu, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of John Petersen, who scored 13 points.
Dobson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zayn Young, who scored 22 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. Anthony Bolton was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Mesa has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Dobson, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Mesa won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Red Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Red Mountain will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Mesa is ranked 32nd). As for Dobson, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. North has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
