The San Leandro Pirates can finally bid farewell to their 13-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They managed a 62-57 victory over Fortune Early College. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win San Leandro has managed all season.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nahje Collins, who scored 13 points. Jerel Briggs was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
San Leandro's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-14. As for Fortune Early College, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Leandro will face off against Castro Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Castro Valley is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Fortune Early College won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against John Adams Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. John Adams Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1304th, while Fortune Early College is ranked 483rd).
