The Argonaut Mustangs were the 2-0 winner over the Amador Buffaloes when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Argonaut was just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 23-22 to Amador. Argonaut has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Argonaut had strong showings from Seth Mitchell, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown, and Ace Tisserand, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown. Tisserand was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Jacob Hartman got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Amador got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brad Blankenheim out in front who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Michael Nunes was another key contributor, gaining 81 total yards and a touchdown.
Argonaut has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Amador, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5.
Argonaut does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Amador will head out on the road to face off against Colfax at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
