Crescent City is 2-8 against Interlachen since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Crescent City will head out to face off against Interlachen at 6:00 p.m.
Crescent City is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Hawthorne.
Jed Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. That one earned run gave him a new career-low.
On the hitting side, Crescent City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trivauhn Bush, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Thomas Erkman was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Interlachen hadn't done well against Matanzas recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Interlachen blew past Matanzas 13-3. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Rodney Blackwelder was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Blackwelder was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Interlachen let Devon Williams and Miles Hoffman run wild. Williams scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4, while Hoffman got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Williams is becoming a predictor of Interlachen's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Robert McCumbers, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Interlachen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Matanzas only posted an OBP of .382.
Crescent City's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Interlachen, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Crescent City suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Interlachen in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Crescent City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
