Basketball Recap: Amelia Lepore Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Park City

Hillcrest posted their closest win since December 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Park City Miners, sneaking past 37-35. This was a revenge game for the Huskies: when they faced off against the Miners back in December of 2024, they had to take a 42-33 defeat.

Hillcrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amelia Lepore, who posted 13 points and three steals. Those three steals gave Lepore a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Sebahar, who earned four points and 11 rebounds.

Hillcrest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Kalynn Nickell and Hadley Flach certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Nickell dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards, while Flach had nine points.

Hillcrest's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 7-13. As for Park City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Hillcrest will head out to take on Jordan at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Jordan will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Hillcrest surely won't give up without a fight. As for Park City, they will host Mountain Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
