The Sanderson Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 63-54 win over Broughton. For Sanderson, this counts as revenge for the 63-56 defeat Broughton walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Nathan Fife continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Patrick Dalton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Several Capitals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Page, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Page is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hudson Fitzgerald, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Sanderson's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-6. As for Broughton, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Sanderson will head out on the road to face off against Enloe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Enloe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Sanderson is ranked 111th). As for Broughton, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Cardinal Gibbons at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Cardinal Gibbons focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
