Basketball Game Preview: Early County Bobcats vs. Pelham Hornets

The Early County Bobcats will head out to square off against the Pelham Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Early County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.

Early County will head into Tuesday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Quitman County on Tuesday. Early County took their contest with ease, bagging an 80-44 win over Quitman County. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Hornets are ranked 458th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jabril Lindsey was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 12 en route to 23 points and four steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ken Parham, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points.

Meanwhile, Pelham suffered their biggest defeat since December 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Calhoun County and fell 78-44. The loss continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Early County is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Pelham, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Everything went Early County's way against Pelham in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Early County made off with a 55-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Early County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
