The Northeast Jones Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 41-32 to Morton. While losing is never fun, Northeast Jones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Morton is ranked eighth).
Northeast Jones lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Erin Jefferson, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Falasia Cooley, who scored eight points.
Northeast Jones has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Morton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast Jones will challenge Mendenhall at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mendenhall is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Morton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Forest at 6:00 p.m. on January 13th.
