North Central Kansas recap Sept. 26, 2012
Dalton Haist and Caleb Carson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Marysville. The longest such play in North Central Kansas this season, the connection resulted in 52 yards.
Wamego moved up to 79 from 114 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Red Raiders were able to make the jump by beating Chapman 31-28.
Clay Center's dynamic duo of Haist and Jordan Bosch proved tough for the Bulldogs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Haist threw for 52 yards and one touchdown and Bosch had 58 yards receiving. Carson helped Clay Center's passing attack out by catching one ball for 52 yards.
Carson made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Tigers beat Marysville. The 6-foot-2 defensive back grabbed two interceptions.
Drake Hake was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 136 yards on 18 carries as Concordia defeated Eddie Minor's team. Teammate Nick Thomas added to the ground attack by rushing for 102 yards.
Carson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Todd Rice's team beat the Bulldogs. He completed four passes for 56 yards and also ran for 102 yards.
Clay Center's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Carson has thrown for 207 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Bosch has nine catches for 136 yards. Carson also leads the league in rushing with 688 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Panthers take on Marysville. Concordia's offense has scored 125 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Bulldogs have allowed only 158 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Fighting Irish take on the Tigers. Chapman is in fourth place, while Clay Center is in first place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Jeff Schwinn's team takes on the Tigers. The Fighting Irish have allowed 75 points this season, while Clay Center has given up 46.
The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Marysville, 28-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
