Auburn Riverside had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-7 to make it four. They fell 8-3 to the Fife Trojans. The Ravens were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.
Auburn Riverside got a good showing from Landon Downey, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Auburn Riverside saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andre Muneton, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Nate Soto was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Fife, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.
On Fife's side, Evan Reece made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Reece also tossed no walks, which is notable because Fife is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise. Reece was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Dylan Hoots and Rocco Gonzales did most of the damage at the plate: Hoots went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Gonzales went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Gonzales a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Ducharme, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Coming up, Auburn Riverside will head out to square off against Kentridge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Ravens surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fife, they will host Orting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
