The Riverview Sarasota Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Seffner Christian Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverview Sarasota knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Seffner Christian likes a good challenge.
Last Wednesday, Riverview Sarasota was able to grind out a solid victory over Venice, taking the game 56-45. Given Riverview Sarasota's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Venice is ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverview Sarasota can attribute much of their success to Ava Sims, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, and Susan Lowther, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Lowther's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kennedy Guy was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Seffner Christian put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Academy of the Holy Names 74-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Nicole Carreno, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The match was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaslyn Easley, who scored 16 points.
Riverview Sarasota pushed their record up to 9-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Seffner Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Riverview Sarasota have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.4 threes per game. However, it's not like Seffner Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
