NCISAA Big East recap Sept. 26, 2012
Wake Christian Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in NCISAA Big East. The Bulldogs vanquished Kestrel Heights 48-22 earlier in the week.
Harrells Christian Academy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on Trinity Christian. Russell Washington ran for 299 yards in the win.
North Raleigh Christian Academy's dynamic duo of John Cook and Josiah Ewart proved tough for Village Christian Academy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cook threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns and Ewart had 89 yards receiving. Charlie Davisson helped North Raleigh Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching two balls for 60 yards.
Tripp Norris made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Knights beat the Knights. The 5-foot-11 sophomore grabbed two interceptions.
North Raleigh Christian Academy's Cook and Davisson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cook has thrown for 1001 yards this season, while Davisson, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 14 catches for 440 yards. Washington from the Crusaders leads the league in rushing with 1024 yards.
Two of the top units in NCISAA Big East will face off this week when Harrells Christian Academy takes on Wake Christian Academy. Brian Aldridge's team's offense has recorded 237 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Randy Johnson's team has permitted only 248 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Bulldogs take on the Crusaders. At the moment, Wake Christian Academy is in fourth, while Harrells Christian Academy is in second.
The Bulldogs made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,940 from 14,498. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 48-22 victory over the Hawks last week.
