Basketball Recap: Andre Mccullough's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Maple Heights over Lutheran West

Maple Heights lost against Lutheran West back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Maple Heights Mustangs took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lutheran West Longhorns. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Longhorns are ranked 15th).

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andre McCullough, who posted eight points and seven rebounds. McCullough is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Kaelon Hurt was another key player, putting up 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Maple Heights and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Lutheran West, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

When Maple Heights and Lutheran West next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Maple Heights will try to stop Warrensville Heights' three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maple Heights is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 77.8 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Lutheran West will try to stop Archbishop Hoban's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
