After a string of seven wins, the Wasatch Wasps's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 62-48 fall against Spanish Fork. Wasatch was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Spanish Fork apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Wasatch lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ashley Garner. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Garner has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Fili Liava'a was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Wasatch's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-4. As for Spanish Fork, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wasatch will take on Salem Hills at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Salem Hills is ranked 32nd, while Wasatch is ranked 14th). As for Spanish Fork, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cedar Valley at 5:15 p.m. on February 13th. Cedar Valley is coming into the game with three straight losses on the road, meaning Spanish Fork will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
