Having just played yesterday, the Dieterich Movin Maroons will get right back to it and host the Cumberland Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th. Cumberland took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Dieterich, who comes in off a win.
On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Dieterich beat Marshall 50-44. Given Dieterich's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Marshall is ranked 524th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dieterich's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Estella Meinhart led the charge by scoring five points along with 11 rebounds and six assists. Miley Britton was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Cumberland ended up a good deal behind Dieterich last Monday and lost 52-34.
Dieterich is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Cumberland, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Dieterich strolled past Cumberland in their previous matchup last Monday by a score of 52-34. Will Dieterich repeat their success, or does Cumberland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
