Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lauren Chesney and Raegan Mccarn Lead Central Davidson to Victory

While Central Davidson's victory against South Rowan wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. It was close, but on Thursdaythe Central Davidson Spartans capped 2024 with a 43-40 win over the South Rowan Raiders. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Central Davidson was led to victory by Raegan McCarn and Lauren Chesney. McCarn posted 11 points in addition to six assists and six boards, while Chesney had seven points and six steals. That's the most assists McCarn has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Forrest, who put up six points and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Central Davidson was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Rowan only racked up seven assists.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Danica Krieg, who went 6 of 7 on her way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Krieg continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Morgan, who posted 16 points.

Central Davidson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for South Rowan, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Central Davidson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-34 loss against East Rowan on the 27th. As for South Rowan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-22 win against West Rowan on the 27th.
