Roybal is 1-6 against Contreras since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Roybal Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Contreras Cobras at 7:00 p.m. Roybal will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Roybal at home against Belmont as the squad secured a 47-6 win. The victory was just what Roybal needed coming off of a 71-39 defeat in their prior matchup.
Max Ibarra was on fire: he threw for 279 yards and six touchdowns while completing 82.6% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Ibarra hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. Gonzalo Chavarria was in the mix too, providing Roybal with three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Contreras took a serious blow against Bernstein on Friday, falling 50-19. Contreras was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Contreras' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cody Nunez, who rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and Supavit Jaithieng who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
With Roybal's victory and Contreras' defeat, both teams now sport identical 3-6 records.
Roybal took their victory against Contreras in their previous meeting back in September of 2022 by a conclusive 34-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roybal since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
