After four games on the road, Washington is heading back home. They will take on the Mt. Vernon Wildcats at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Washington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5  runs per game  this season, so Mt. Vernon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

 Washington got a great performance from  Mattox Hinkle as he  pitched six innings while giving up  three earned  (and three unearned) runs off   ten  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Trey James and  John Chapman did most of the damage at the plate:  James  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4, while  Chapman  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.
 Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon scored the most  runs they've had all season  on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of South Spencer by a score of  7-6.
  Kyle Holder made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 The  win  got Washington back to even at 2-2. As for Mt. Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.
 Washington took their  victory against Mt. Vernon  in their previous meeting  back in April of 2023 by a conclusive  11-4. Does  Washington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Vernon turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
