The Woodbridge Raiders will square off against the Milford Buccaneers at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Woodbridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Woodbridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Polytech, who was ranked sixth at the time (Woodbridge was ranked 17th). The Raiders fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Makayla Lessner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Woodbridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Tyre, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Milford). They blew past Seaford 19-2 on Thursday. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Bluejays recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Tenley Lord made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Lord was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Milford got a massive performance out of Adri Fountain, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Mika Finazzo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Milford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Milford pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Woodbridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Woodbridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Milford struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Woodbridge skirted past Milford 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Buccaneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
