The Jackson Ironman/Ironladies scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They walked away with a 63-55 win over Fairfield. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Fairfield is ranked 575th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson was led to victory by Mattie Walburn and T.j. Carpenter. Walburn scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, while Carpenter scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Walburn continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
The victory (which was Jackson's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Fairfield, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Jackson will be playing at home against Miami Trace at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Miami Trace and Jackson are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Fairfield, they will head out on the road to face off against North Adams at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
