The Liberty HomeSchool Alliance Arrows had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They pulled ahead with a 30-29 photo finish over Shawnee Mission Christian.
Shawnee Mission Christian's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jeydan Umberger, who scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Maranda Zink, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 steals.
Liberty HomeSchool Alliance's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Shawnee Mission Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty HomeSchool Alliance will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Newton HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. As for Shawnee Mission Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eagle Heights Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
