The Divine Savior Academy - Sienna Rays couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 52-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Logos Prep Academy on Thursday.
Several Rays players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Cortright, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 13 rebounds. Jacob Abboud was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Divine Savior Academy - Sienna were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Logos Prep Academy only pulled down four.
Logos Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyle Ratliff led the charge by scoring 16 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Ratliff has scored at least 25% of Logos Prep Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Sedgwick, who scored 13 points.
Divine Savior Academy - Sienna's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Logos Prep Academy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Divine Savior Academy - Sienna will face off against Family Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Logos Prep Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Faith West Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
